  • Chair Yoga at the Carriage House Theater

    Seymour Library’s Chair Yoga program has a new location- the Carriage House Theater, 203 Genesee St REAR, Auburn, NY 13021. 

    The library in partnership with the Cayuga Museum of History and Art will be offering chair yoga classes with instructor Wendy Vitale on Wednesday, October 5, 12, and 19 at 3:30 pm.
     
    Registration is not required. Mats are not required, but please bring a water bottle. Comfortable clothes and shoes recommended.

  • Fall Festival

    October 15, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

    Mark your calendar for Seymour Library’s Fall Festival on Saturday, October 15 from 11 am to 2 pm. Celebrate the season with fun activities on the library’s front lawn, yummy treats provided by the Friends of Seymour Library, balloon art with Jeff the Magic Man, hands-on crafting stations, fall-themed storytimes at 11 am and 1 pm, Autumn STEAM with Captain Ducky at 12 pm, tours of Fort Hill Cemetery with Seward House Museum, and more!

    Submissions to the library’s Pumpkin Decorating Contest will be on display. Vote on your favorite pumpkin based on a story book character.

    Interested in decorating a pumpkin for the contest?
    Pumpkins will be available to pick up on Friday, October 7 at Seymour Library. Paint, carve, glue, and glitter your creations to life! Supplies will be limited. Please email Jackie at jkolb@seymourlib.org to reserve your pumpkin.

  • The Serious Side of Food Reading & Discussion Series

    Explore the Serious Side of Food on Tuesday, October 25 at 6 pm with David Connelly, adjunct philosophy instructor at Cayuga Community College. This reading and discussion series, held at Seymour Library, will focus on different food-related topics, including the food industry, healthy eating, diet fads, and the politics and culture of food.

    October’s featured book: “In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto” by Michael Pollan.

  • Tablet Basics: Mobile Device Basics

    This program is part of a series of workshops funded by the PLA Digital Literacy Workshop Incentive. Future workshops will cover the basics of video conferencing, cybersecurity, and resume development.

    PLA Digital Literacy Workshop Incentive, supported by AT&T is designed to support library adoption of the PLA DigitalLearn online courses and training materials developed with support from AT&T, freely available at DigitalLearn.org.

    The Public Library Association's site, DigitalLearn.org is an online hub for digital literacy support and training. The site launched in June 2013 and builds upon and fosters the work of libraries and community organizations as they work to increase digital literacy across the nation.
    Equipment for the workshops was funded by the PLA Digital Literacy Workshop Incentive and IMLS American Rescue Plan.
