    Watch the documentary Almost Sunrise. Two retired soldiers who are battling the moral injuries of war and the temptations of suicide walk across America to confront their demons and discover the power of spiritual healing. Discussion topics will include PTSD and veteran suicide. Guest Speakers, veteran organizations, and counselors will be on site at the library.

    Lights, Camera, Social Action!, is brought to you by ARISE and Seymour Public Library. The monthly film and discussion series will focus on different social issues, with the goal of raising public awareness around disabilities and creating a community dialogue.     President Teddy Roosevelt formed the “Country Life Commission,” tasked with researching the realities of contemporary rural life in America. Many were alarmed that increasing numbers of people were leaving rural America for life in the cities, threatening rural culture that was historically identified as the backbone of America. Join Cayuga County Historian Ruth Bradley for a presentation the Roosevelt’s Commission (chaired by Cornell University’s Liberty Hyde Bailey), the concurrent “Country Life Movement” of the early 20th century, and the various ramifications both had on rural culture, conservation, and agriculture that pertain to this day.
